I hope you all are enjoying the end-of-the-year festivities, however you celebrate them! It’s been quite a year, with lots of ups and downs, and I wanted to take a moment to celebrate all the books by feminists and survivors that came out this year. Here is a short list of the ones I have, and I haven’t even read them all!
Devout: A Memoir of Doubt by Anna Gazmarian
A Well-Trained Wife: My Escape from Christian Patriarchy by
Abortion: Our Bodies, Their Lies, and the Truths We Use to Win by
This American Ex-Wife: How I Ended My Marriage and Started My Life by Lyz Lenz
If You Can’t Take the Heat: Tales of Food, Feminism, and Fury by Geraldine DeRuiter
Between Two Trailers: A Memoir by J. Dana Trent
Baptistland: A Memoir of Abuse, Betrayal, and Transformation by
Which ones have you read? What would you add to the list? I’ve been focusing more on fiction reading this year as I tour Rift because it’s been helpful to have imaginary worlds to escape to as I spend so much time talking about personal trauma and healing. But I’m hoping to get back into more nonfiction reading this coming year.
Speaking of… thank you for coming along with me on this journey of putting my book out this year. I’d like to offer you a personalized hardcover copy of Rift for only $20 with free shipping in the US, if you order by January 20. Maybe a last-minute gift for a Christmas or New Years party, or just a treat for yourself? If you’d like me to send you one, please reply to this email or message me on my contact page with your address, and we can coordinate Venmo.
I also want to offer a discount on a paid subscription to this newsletter. Click the button below for your 20% off discount for a year of paid posts. I try to put out at least one a month in addition to my free posts. Paid subscriptions also get you the full archive of my Substack and the ability to post comments. And they help support my work as a writer :)
You can also give a subscription as an easy, last-minute gift to someone who might enjoy My Blue Peninsula!
Thank you, as always, for being here, and never forget: Your story matters.
